Westworld is known for its crazy twists and turns that have left fans theorizing for days on end about what has happened and what will happen. Let’s revisit some of the best O-M-G moments of the series.

Westworld tends to leave us with a headache in the most positive way possible. Throughout the first two seasons of this critically-acclaimed series, we have had moments that left us stringing together the pieces of a vast and complicated puzzle.

Whether we were struggling to understand the point of the Maze, who was a host or not, or just simply who is good and who is bad, Westworld has continuously thrown us for a loop. Embedded within the questions and the theories were some of the biggest reveals of television that only a show like Westworld could give us.

So sit back, relax, and let’s reminisce about some of the best moments from the series.

Dolores swats a fly

While this may not seem like a moment that comes to mind immediately, and it was the very first dark, questionable act from sweet ‘ol Dolores. In season 1, episode 1 we had no idea the path Dolores would eventually take to lead the robot revolution, but this particular scene does give a glimpse into her darker side.

The fly is the only non-robotic part of the Westworld park and it could basically fly and crawl up in the host bodies without the hosts actually harming it. That is, unless you’re Dolores, of course. In a very creepy, foreboding scene, we see Dolores smack the fly on her neck as she smiles at the sun setting in the distance.

This is the moment we began to ponder just who Dolores is, and what dark thoughts linger around her mind.

When we thought Teddy was a human

Back in season 1, episode 1, we had no idea about the whole human/host conundrum and initially, we assumed many of the host characters were just human, or at least we were led to believe such. This was certainly the case for Teddy who was introduced as a man traveling on the train to Westworld. If we go back and re-watch, there are definitely clues early on to him being a host, particularly his interaction with Dolores.

One of the first big reveals of Westworld was that Teddy was, in fact, a host! This revelation came when the Man in Black shot him with no hesitation as fans initially panicked but soon realized, Teddy lives to see another day.

Maeve and Akecheta

In season 2, episode 8, “Kiksuya”, we were introduced to the season’s best episode as it focused on the Ghost Nation and particularly the narrative between Akecheta and Maeve’s daughter. As Akecheta told her about his past and losing the love of his life, we got a deep insight into the intentions of Ghost Nation, and how they were trying to protect Maeve and her daughter.

But where was the O-M-G moment in all of this? At the end of the episode, we learn that Akecheta has been talking to Maeve the entire time thanks to her newfound powers of controlling and channeling hosts as she pleases.

There was a haunting beauty in this moment because it forged a bond between two characters that would have been unlikely given Maeve blamed the Ghost Nation for what happened to her daughter.

Maeve and Dolores = BFFs–maybe?

This episode of Westworld was exciting because where we might have expected a war to break out amongst the show’s strongest characters, there was a civil, peaceful talk. Thankfully, the show didn’t jump to turning these women against each other despite their stark differences.

Dolores offers to kill Maeve because humans are relentless and brutal and will take away any good left inside of her. But Maeve has a promise and a mission to fulfill, and Dolores seemingly understands to each their own, right?

This isn’t the type of O-M-G moment that leaves you in shock, but it was a great scene that defined how pivotal these female characters are to the story, and how their individual journey may not intertwine, but they both have a sense of purpose.

Bernard can’t see the door

Westworld gave us the most epic reveal back in season 1 when it was revealed that Bernard is a host. This isn’t an underrated moment, but the subtle nuances and clues embedded in the moments leading up to the scene are.

Namely, when Bernard is unable to see the door, the wheels in many of our minds started turning at maximum capacity as one O-M-G lead to another while we screamed at our television screens. This reveal was followed by Theresa being misguided into the secret room and eventually meeting her demise.

As Theresa glanced upon the blueprints of Bernard and came to the realization that her lover was, in fact, a host, she had moments left to live as Bernard took her life right there and then.
