Sophie Turner lets loose as Jean Grey in the trailer for X-Men: Dark Phoenix

Sophie Turner may be finished filming Game of Thrones, but it’s safe to say that her future in Hollywood is secure. Next year, audiences can see her on the big screen as Jean Grey, one of the most iconic roles in comics, in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Here’s the official synopsis:
"During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy."
This story has been adapted to film before, in X-Men: The Last Stand, back when Famke Janssen played Jean. But it sounds like the new movie will hew much closer to the original run in the comics, and Turner will be at the center of it all. Watch the first trailer below:
X-Men: Dark Phoenix will hit theaters on February 14, 2019. Happy prospective Valentine’s Day.
There are a couple of other things happening in the Game of Thrones-cast-member-o-sphere. For example, Digital Spy reports that Amazon has cast Tom Wlaschiha (Jaqen H’ghar) in a key role in the second season of Jack Ryan, the show where Jim from The Office travels the world fighting terrorists. Here’s the trailer for the first season:
Wlaschiha will play Max Schenkel, “a mysterious foreign operative based in South America.” Because when you need someone to play a “mysterious” character, you get yourself a Faceless Man.
Finally, there’s an adorable story about Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy) that could carry you through the weekend. So Alfie’s sister Lily Allen, a British pop star, is publishing an autobiography. The Daily Mail has an excerpt from the book, wherein Lily recounts a time that she and Alfie, as young children, attended the premiere of Hear My Song, a movie produced by their mother, Alison Owen. Princess Diana attended, and Lily and Alfie were tasked with presenting her with gifts. But according to Lily, there was a catch:
"Diana the Princess of Wales came to the premiere. I was a flower girl and gave her a posy, Alfie had a box of handkerchiefs to give her but somehow he got his k— caught in his trouser zip moments before meeting her. ‘Are you ok?’ she asked him. ‘No,’ he replied. ‘I’ve got my willy caught in my zip.’"
So there you have it: five-year-old Alfie Allen told Princess Di about his injuring his penis. And then he grew up to play a guy who got castrated. Destiny?
