It’s no secret that the late, great Carrie Fisher (Princess/General Leia) liked to have a good time, and you may have seen evidence of that hiding in plain sight. Speaking to The New York Times about his upcoming memoir, Monty Python alum Eric idle brings us the behind-the-scenes scoop. He told a story about a time Fisher was renting his house during the filming of The Empire Strikes Back. One night, Harrison Ford came over, and things got lit. “We had a party the night before. We stayed up too late. We were having too much fun,” he said. “We went to bed and they went to work. It turns out when they filmed the scene, they were still a little high. So yes, I’m proud of that moment.”
Fisher recounted this same story to The Daily Beast in 2015 in a little more detail. “Yes, that one’s true,” she recalled. “I was renting Eric Idle’s house for five months, and he was doing Monty Python down in Tunisia, and they had a drink that they would give to the extras to make them more ‘compliant.’ And they called it ‘The Tunisian Death Drink.’
"We had an early call, and Eric called down and said, ‘The Rolling Stones are here!’ and I came down and it was all of them. I called Harrison and said, ‘Get over here! This is ridiculous!’ I wonder how he remembers it. I remember that we never went to sleep, so we weren’t hungover—we were still drunk when we arrived in Cloud City the next day. We don’t really smile a lot in the movie, but there we [are] smiling."
Notice how Eric Idle says they were “a little high” while Fisher says they “were still drunk.” Either way, it seems a good time was had by all. And now let’s watch their arrival in Cloud City and see if we can see anything out of the ordinary:
