Scarlett Johansson is in the great game now. After appearing as super-spy Black Widow in six Marvel movies stretching all the way back to 2010’s Iron Man 2, she will finally get her first solo movie (Black Widow), and will get paid $15 million for it, per The Hollywood Reporter.

For reference, Gal Gadot — who headlined Warner Bros. and DC’s first female-led superhero film, Wonder Woman — made only $300,000 for that movie. The film itself crushed it with a worldwide box office haul of $821 million. Fifteen million dollars is what Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans took home for appearing in Avengers: Infinity War as Thor and Captain America, respectively.

As THR notes, Marvel doesn’t usually share information on what it pays its actors, and actually denied this report. “Marvel Studios disputes the accuracy of these numbers, and as a matter of policy, we never publicly disclose salaries or deal terms.” Nevertheless, “multiple sources” confirmed Johansson’s payday to THR, and other Marvel salaries have been known for a while. Cash cow Robert Downey Jr. made only $500,000 for his appearance in 2008’s Iron Man, but took home a whopping $50 million for the first Avengers movie. Chadwick Boseman did okay for his first solo outing as Black Panther with $2 million, but that movie came out after the Marvel Cinematic Universe had already established itself. Expect that number to go up for Black Panther 2.

To be clear, Johansson’s Black Widow movie won’t be Marvel’s first ever female-led superhero film. That honor will belong to Academy Award-winning Brie Larson who will play the titular role of Captain Marvel when theaters open their doors on March 8, 2019. Larson will earn $5 million for her first Marvel solo outing but has also inked a seven-picture deal for multiple Marvel franchises. So, expect her to be popping up all over the MCU, in the near future.

Back to Black Widow, according to yet another report from The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be helmed by Australian director Cate Shortland. But don’t expect the movie for a while…gotta deal with Thanos first.
