Bronn: DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story
There’s no way that Bronn would take dramatic movies seriously. It’s nigh on impossible to picture him making plans to check out the latest Oscar-winners, at least not without a beautiful date on his arm. No, Bronn seems more the type to enjoy a bawdy comedy, and 2004’s DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story might just do the trick.
DodbeBall is funny, easy to digest and a little bit cynical. Even when the film attempts to convey a moral message for its viewers, it does so with a bit of an elbow jab and a “hee hee.” DodgeBall is a satire of popular sports movies, and Bronn is definitely the kind of man who would appreciate a film that makes fun of a genre other people take very seriously.
Also, it helps that the heroes of DodgeBall basically live out Bronn’s daydream. Bronn is always waxing on about how he lives for earthly pleasures. He wants the pretty wife, the giant castle, the grand titles. He’s not particularly interested in waiting his turn to get these things; any route to them, no matter how many corners it cuts, will do.
In DodgeBall, the characters do practice to get good at their sport, but the effort they put in is nothing compared to the effort it would have taken protagonist Peter LaFleur to run an efficient gym. In the end, they win the big bucks Bronn so desperately wants for the low cost of running a few exercises.
