Torchwood: God Among Us begins on Tuesday 23rd October!

The official sixth series of Torchwood is due to begin this Tuesday with the release of God Among Us 1, and we couldn’t be more excited about it!
It’s a great month for Doctor Who fans. In the same month that Series Eleven of Doctor Who started with The Woman Who Fell to Earth, the sixth series of Torchwood is also about to begin with the release of the first volume of the new arc, God Among Us. And Big Finish are already counting down the days, revealing the release date to be Tuesday October 23rd!
How excited are we about this at Doctor Who Watch? Pretty excited, I’d say. Especially as the previous series, Aliens Among Us, had been so fantastic. Despite the switch from visual to audio, the series had been a real return to form for Torchwood after the slightly disappointing Miracle Day. It was a series that had been full of shocks, and I expect that’ll be true of the new series, too.
Torchwood’s new/old boss
Since it was last on television, Torchwood has changed a lot. One of the biggest shakeups that Aliens Among Us gave us was the removal of Captain Jack Harkness as its boss. Who was he replaced by? The last person Jack wanted, or even expected: Yvonne Hartman.

Hartman proved to be quite an effective boss in Aliens Among Us 3. However, she also proved to be capable of mistakes, particularly in the last episode. It’ll be interesting to see if she’ll remain as Torchwood’s boss for much longer, or whether the team will want Captain Jack back.
If I’m honest, I don’t want Jack to be the boss again just yet. Hartman is such a fantastic character (as I’ve already covered before in great detail). And it’s been interesting hearing her as its current leader. Unsurprisingly, she has a more professional approach to it than Jack did. It’ll be interesting to discover just how major her role continues to be.
But of course, there are a lot of other loose threads to resolve this series. Judging from the cover, it looks like Ng will continue to be a major character, too. She was in the whole of the previous series, but we still don’t know who or what she is. Hopefully, we’ll get some answers in God Among Us, especially as Herald of the Dawn seemed to imply a few key things about her.
Aliens Among Us was so fantastic that I can’t wait for God Among Us to begin. Are you ready for the sixth series of Torchwood?
