The set of Disney and Lucasfilm’s first live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian, is turning into a wretched hive of scum and villainy. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio where The Mandalorian is being filmed was the site of an act of grand theft (in California, that means any theft of items with a value of $950 or more), with a source saying that items were taken from The Mandalorian set specifically.

Granted, the source also said that “nothing of substance” was taken, so it probably wasn’t Death Star plans. SyFy Wire reports that in addition to various pieces of equipment, the take included a memory card. If anyone made off with the scripts, share with the group?

But it’s not all bad news. A week before the incident, on showrunner Jon Favreau’s birthday, Star Wars creator George Lucas stopped by the set, possibly to case the joint. Favreau uploaded a few pictures:

What do I have to do to get Lucas to visit on my birthday?

As a complete non sequitur, did you know that Lucas owns clothes that aren’t in plaid? As proof, we present this 1980’s Japanese Panasonic commercial:

Anyway, back to bad news, whileThe Mandalorian is forging ahead, Deadline reports that the solo Boba Fett movie, originally intended to be helmed by Logan director James Mangold, is dead in the water. With Solo having underperformed at the box office, Disney is easing off on its expanded Star Wars movie universe and focusing more on its upcoming streaming service, which it hopes will compete with the likes of Netflix. That’s where The Mandalorian will debut sometime next year.

It’s unfortunate, but y’know, Boba Fett is (a clone of) a Mandalorian, The Mandalorian is probably a Mandalorian…there just isn’t room in people’s hearts for two Mandalorians at once. Guess you’re staying put in the Sarlacc Pit, Boba.
