Westworld: The Nolans are headed to Amazon with their new drama series

Westworld showrunners Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan are heading to Amazon!
Westworld is what it is because of it’s two showrunners, Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, who have brought life to this intriguing, riveting world. Back in April, it was announced that the power duo would be adapting William Gibson’s novel, The Peripheral, for Amazon Studios!
Some days before the Westworld season 2 premiere, the news came out that the couple got a script-to-series order through their Warner Brothers based Kilter Films banner. It was quite the competitive battle to get their hands on the script, but alas they came out on top.
For those who are unclear on what a script-to-series order means, The Hollywood Reporter explains it as: “Meaning that should the script for the drama come in well, it would be picked up straight to series rather than going through the traditional pilot process or pay a sizable financial penalty.”
The novel, The Peripheral, is centered on a character named Flynne Fisher who lives in a not-so-distant future in America where technology is just starting to affect how society functions and lives. However, she stumbles across a different reality and a grim future (sound like Westworld sort of, anyone?).
A Simple Plan’s Scott B. Smith will be the writing genius behind the project and executive produce the series alongside Jonathan Nolan to bring life to this sci-fi drama series. Author William Gibson is known for his cyberpunk, futuristic material which fits in perfectly with the Westworld showrunners.
The Peripheral would join the ranks of Amazon’s venture into the world of fantasy which already includes a Lord of the Rings series.
