Ed Harris has just signed on to star in the Marcel Marceau drama, Resistance alongside Edgar Ramirez.
Ed Harris is continuing his streak of new projects outside of Westworld with the latest being signed on for Marcel Marceau drama, Resistance. Along with Harris, The Assassination of Gianni Versace’s Edgar Ramirez will also be joining the film by Venezuelan filmmaker Jonathan Jakubowicz.
Resistance will follow a French actor and mime artist and his experience and involvement in the French Resistance during World War 2. It has already been announced that Social Network’s Jesse Eisenberg has already signed on to play the role of Marceau while Ed Harris is playing the role of General George S. Patton.
The only announcement regarding Ramirez’ character is that he is playing someone named Sigmund. Rounding out the cast are Genius’ Clemence Poesy playing the character of Emma, a member of the French Resistance and German actor Matthias Schweighofer to play a Nazi leader by the name of Klaus Barbie.
Jakubowicz is absolutely thrilled to have the likes of Ed Harris and Edgar Ramirez join the film–one that is extremely personal to him as the grandchild of Holocaust survivors. He shared his enthusiasm about telling a story of unsung heroes in the most turbulent of times, and the fact that some of the best actors will play those individuals is just the icing on the cake.
Production for Resistance began in September in Prague and is set to release sometime in 2019. At least we know that it won’t distract Harris from Westworld season 3, right?
