Clifton Collins Jr. will star in the upcoming drama film, Honey Boy, alongside Shia LaBeouf.
Clifton Collins Jr. is having a stellar year with work between Westworld and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Back in May, Deadline announced that Collins Jr. would be starring in an Alma Har’el (Bombay Beach) directed film, Honey Boy.
Currently, in post-production, Honey Boy will also star Shia LaBeouf (Transformers) and Lucas Hedges (Manchester By the Sea), with LaBeouf co-writing the screenplay. The story is loosely based on LaBeouf’s relationship with his father and the film follows Hedges’ character, a child actor, who tries to fix his messy relationship with his alcoholic father, played by LaBeouf.
The story takes place over the course of a decade and you’ll be interested to learn that Honey Boy was LaBeouf’s childhood nickname. So who will Clifton Collins Jr. be playing? His character is that of an ex-stuntman who is big brother/mentor to Hedges’ character.
Honey Boy is set for theatrical release sometime in 2019, so any Collins Jr. fans won’t have to wait too long to see him take over the big screen. Coming up, Clifton Collins Jr. will also be seen in A Crooked Somebody with Westworld co-star Ed Harris, and Lucky Day alongside Nina Dobrev. And of course, as previously mentioned, he will star in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood with an all-star ensemble cast including Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio.
It’s safe to say that Collins Jr. is keeping quite busy in a post-Westworld world, and whether or not we’ll see him in season 3 is yet to be seen–but in the meantime, we’ll see him plenty on the big screen (yay!).
