By Ariba Bhuvad
The Westworld Escalante filming location in Paramount Ranch has burned down as a result of the Woolsey fire in California.
Westworld has received some devastating news today in the form of the fire currently spreading throughout Southern California. Parts of the Paramount Ranch, located in Agoura Hills has burnt down including the western town Westworld fans know as Sweetwater.
As evacuation orders and park closures take over the surrounding areas, the city of Santa Monica is trying to keep residents updated as the day goes on, including the announcement that structures in Western town have burned in the fire.
Westworld used this town for the main street scenes and has utilized this area for filming a great deal along with filming at the Melody Ranch in Santa Clarita, throughout Utah, and other places. It certainly is a devastating loss for the series, but a bigger loss for those affected by the fire–having lost family, friends, and their homes.
Along with Westworld, this area of Paramount Ranch has been used by numerous films and shows including Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, The Mentalist, Weeds, and even productions dating back to the 1940’s including Bob Hope’s Caught in the Draft.
Updates are being periodically updated by the city of Santa Monica via Twitter with the latest tweet stating that Western Town has burned down–but no pictures and details have yet been released.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those affected by the Woolsey fire. Stay safe everyone!
