Doctor Who: The Fifth Doctor will meet his daughter Jenny in The Legacy of Time!

In 2019, the Fifth Doctor will meet his daughter Jenny in Doctor Who: The Legacy of Time – as played by Peter Davison and his real life daughter, Georgia Tennant!

Back in 2008, a big deal was made about the Tenth Doctor episode, The Doctor’s Daughter. Not just because of its title, but also because who was playing the “daughter” – Georgia Moffett, who in real life was the daughter of Peter Davison, the Fifth Doctor. So it was seen as perfect casting at the time.

Cut to ten years later, and Georgia Tennant’s connections to Doctor Who have extended greatly. Not only is her episode fondly remembered by fans, but along with being married to the Tenth Doctor himself, David Tennant, she’s also produced the fiftieth anniversary tribute The Five(ish) Doctors Reboot. In fact, she even has her own spin-off series now. (And it’s definitely a great series, too.)

If all of that wasn’t exciting enough already, however, then today’s news should definitely change that. Because next year, in Big Finish’s twentieth anniversary special The Legacy of Time, Jenny will once again meet her father. This time played by her actual father, Peter Davison!

Relative Time

The two will feature in Relative Time, the fourth episode of the epic box set. Written by Matt Fitton, the Fifth Doctor and Jenny have to face the evil Time Lord criminal, the Nine, played by John Heffernan. (Who originally appeared in Doom Coalition 3 and will also face many Eighth Doctor companions next year.)

"Disaster strikes inside the Time Vortex, throwing together the Fifth Doctor and his future daughter Jenny – and the Nine sees an opportunity to steal something huge."

Interestingly, this won’t be the first time that Davison and Tennant have worked together on a Big Finish audio. Back in 2000, the two worked together in the Doctor Who audio Red Dawn – when she was just sixteen. It’s amazing to think that they’re now working together again in Doctor Who, almost two decades later.

The producer of The Legacy of Time, David Richardson, sounds just as excited as we are about the Fifth Doctor meeting Jenny.

"It was just an irresistible idea, the thought of pairing father and daughter, playing father and daughter, in our massive 20th anniversary special. And it’s great to have Jenny back again after the enormous success of her debut on audio – the series received universally positive reviews and an outpouring of love from listeners, so we’re looking forward to even more adventures with The Doctor’s Daughter."

More surprises to come?

More from Winter is Coming

Without a doubt, this is an incredibly exciting piece of news in its own right, and I can see why Big Finish decided to keep secret about it for so long even after The Legacy of Time had been announced. (Even the very name of Relative Time was kept hidden, probably because the first word was a very big clue.) So now, we have an even bigger idea of what to expect from the series.

Will there be even more surprises to come? Very possibly. We know that Bernice Summerfield will be meeting River Song, and that Kate Stewart and Osgood will be working with the Third Doctor and Jo. We also know that the Sixth Doctor and Charley will be reunited with DI Patricia Menzies and that the Seventh Doctor will be working with the Counter-Measures team once more.

But what else can we expect? What other major meetings and exciting moments will happen in The Legacy of Time? Be sure that, if there’s any further news on this very special audio story, you can find it right here at Doctor Who Watch!
