Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) dances in his underwear for socks, and other cast member news

facebooktwitterreddit

As always, the cast members of Game of Thrones — past and present — are keeping busy. But how? To start, Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) just landed the lead role in The Mandalorian, a live-action Star Wars series from Disney. That’s nice and all, but I think we can all agree that this commercial, where Pascal dances in a ’50s-style diner for Swedish sock maker Happy Socks, is a lot more impressive:

I did not expect the counter guy to drop the F-bomb right at the beginning there. I didn’t expect to see Oberyn Martell dance on a table and rip his pants off, either, or to watch him float into the sky, so it’s a day of surprises. Thank you, Happy Socks: you’ve made my day.

It’s going to be hard to top that, but Pascal isn’t the only Game of Thrones star in a weird ad. Raleigh Ritchie (aka Jacob Anderson, aka Grey Worm), is in a…let’s call it a commercial…for Extra gum, where he gets nose-to-nose close with host Tom Ward. “Penguin kisses” are involved. Watch the awkwardness:

Anybody want gum?

I laughed a lot at this. Hearing Grey Worm deliver football scores is delightful.

Moving on, Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) stars as Julia “Sweet Saraya” Bevis,  a former wrestler and wife/mother of a wrestling family, in Fighting With My Family. She’s in the trailer, but she doesn’t say anything. See if you can spot her!

Yeah, this looks like a fun movie and I’m definitely going to see it when it hits theaters in February of 2019.

From one Lannister to another, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) is getting his sponsored content on courtesy of Diageo, which is rolling out a line of Game of Thrones-themed single malt scotch whiskeys:

According to Drinks Business, Diageo has released the following Game of Thrones-themed liquors:

  • House Tully – Singleton of Glendullan Select; Around $30 for 750ml; ABV 40%
  • House Stark – Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost; Around $40 for 750ml; ABV 43%
