Skyrim composer Jeremy Soule wants to score Amazon’s Lord of the Rings show

Video game music composer Jeremy Soule is interested in scoring Amazon’s insanely expensive Lord of the Rings show. If you’ve ever taken an arrow to the knee, then you’ve heard Soule’s work. He composed the tremendously popular Elder Scrolls games.

Per Geeks and Gamers, the conversation about Soule coming on board started on Twitter, as is true of all conversations worth having:

Soule responded by creating a Twitter poll, and the results speak for themselves:

With that, Soule began “networking,” which may mean he reached out to Amazon and possible showrunners JD Payne and Patrick McKay.

Soule has composed music for some of the most popular video games of the past 15 years, including Guild Wars, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, five Harry Potter video games, and of course, Skyrim.

Should Soule land the gig at Amazon, he’ll have some pretty big shoes to fill. Howard Shore composed the music for Peter Jackson’s original movie trilogy, and a lot of fans haven’t forgotten it, including Soule:

For now, there’s been no word from Amazon on who will compose the music for its Lord of the Rings series, but if the e-commerce giant is willing spend upwards of $1 billion on the first two seasons, it had better find the right composer. If Amazon passes on Soule, we figure Game of Thrones composer Ramin Djawadi will be free the final season of that show airs in April of 2019, so Amazon has plenty of options.
