HBO sets up season 8 promotional website, Tyrion Lannister retrospective

The final six episodes of Game of Thrones are nearly upon us, and HBO is gearing up for the April 2019 premiere with the #ForTheThrone campaign. It hasn’t released a proper trailer yet, but it is sharing plenty of highlights from the show’s storied past:

Along those lines, the network has set up a #ForTheThrone webpage where it’s gathered all its new info, clips, characters posters and more in one place. The coolest piece of additional content is a glossy retrospective all about Tyrion Lannister, tracing his journey from rich layabout drunk to conflicted Hand of the Queen with quotes, video clips, and striking artwork. Check it out.

Hopefully we can expect more retrospectives to follow, with Cersei, Jaime, Arya, Sansa, Jon Snow, Daenerys, Bran and Theon being good places to start…and Sam and the Hound and Davos and Melisandre and Bronn and Jorah and Varys and Brienne after that…and Yara and Tormund and Gilly and Qyburn and the Mountain and Grey Worm and Missandei and Podrick after that…and maybe throw in Lyanna Mormont and Euron and the Night King. Man, even after all the deaths over the past seven seasons this show is still full to bursting with characters.

And we can’t be too far off from a real trailer, either. We’re in the final stretch.
