Westworld: Easter Eggs and other random stuff from the season 2 premiere
By Ariba Bhuvad
Did you catch any of these Easter Eggs from the Westworld season 2 premiere the first time you watched it?
Westworld season 2 premiered back in April, and the entire season left us with many questions, and many of us a bit confused. Going back to the season 2 premiere, there were many Easter Eggs embedded throughout the episode and all sorts of other tidbits that you may have missed watching it the first time around.
If you recall, “Journey Into Night” was our first introduction into season 2’s confusing, multiple timelines, and a glitchy Bernard. We were immediately scratching our heads and wondering where the heck the season was going to take us.
If we’re being honest, the season ended in a similar fashion and we are curious to learn to what will happen in season 3. The season 2 premiere also revealed that Westworld is on an island and gave us some hints as to how the entire season was going to end. It was quite the whirlwind adventure, right?
Now, let’s revisit some of the confusing moments and Easter Eggs from “Journey Into Night”–and remind ourselves why we fell in love with this show! And remember, some of these Easter Eggs are known/obvious to us now, but weren’t when the episode first aired.
Another famous Skarsgård brother?!
Alright, this isn’t exactly an Easter Egg, but it did surprise a lot of fans to learn another Skarsgård brother was into acting. Gustaf Skarsgård was introduced in the first episode of season 2 as a character named Karl Strand who is Delos’ Head of Operations.
Multiple timelines/Multiple Bernards
At the time, Westworld confused the crap out of us because of the multiple timelines. Honestly, it wasn’t even obvious right away and we sort of had to piece together the pieces of the Bernard puzzle to make some sense out of it all.
At the beginning of the episode, we see Bernard wake up on the beach sometime after the robot revolution and Sweetwater Massacre. However, there are other scenes in which Bernard and Dolores are talking (and the aspect ratio is different).
The other longstanding theory from the season 2 premiere is that there were multiple Bernards. Between the Reddit theories, the official photos from HBO, and the plot of the season, fans had a lot to decipher and figure out.
And if you haven’t seen season 2, then we won’t ruin how it all plays out for you.
There are six parks
One of the coolest things about the Westworld season 2 premiere was learning that there are potentially up to six Delos parks. Towards the end of the episode, a dead Bengal tiger is found by the water, and a comment is made about it escaping from park 6.
At the time, we were all freaking out because we only knew about the confirmed existence of Shogun World. And while it was suspected that other parks existed, hearing one of the characters mention a sixth park had fans in a frenzy.
