Hip, hip hooray! Ed Harris of Westworld is celebrating his 68th birthday today!
Westworld would be nothing without the iconic Man in Black, and the Man in Black character would be nothing without the man who brings it to life–Mr. Ed Harris. Today, Harris celebrates his 68th birthday, and fans all over the world are flocking to social media to wish the legendary actor.
Over the last four decades, Harris has made a name for himself as one of the most successful actors. Westworld may be the most recent, recognized piece of work he’s done recently. However, his filmography is a very long list of amazing movies and shows.
Not only is Harris an actor, but he’s a director, writer, producer, and a screenwriter. Basically, he can do anything and everything, and we’re so thrilled that he’s a big part of Westworld. Harris first got his start on the stage in Pasadena, California circa 1976. He was in Thomas Rickman’s play Baalam and from there he went on to the world of television.
Throughout the 70s and 80s, he showed up sporadically in television shows. Harris got his first film role in Coma, a suspenseful drama starring Michael Douglas. About two years later, he got his first major film role in Borderline also starring Charles Bronson.
We can sit here talking about Harris’ accomplishment for hours but we would be remiss not to mention his most iconic films such as Nixon, A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13, and The Truman Show–just to name a few. Seriously, this man is a legend!
When Westworld premiered in 2016, fans were immediately drawn into Harris’ character, the Man in Black. There was so much mystery and allure to his character, and Harris made every scene and moment riveting. The Man in Black is such an integral part of the series and was the character that brought the biggest plot twist from season 1.
We wish Mr. Ed Harris the best of birthdays today, and can’t wait to see what he brings to Westworld season 3. Head to our Twitter, @BeyondWestworld, to wish the Man in Black on his birthday!
