Game of Thrones MetroCards out today in New York City

Not long ago, HBO carpeted Grand Central Station in New York City with ads for the final season of Game of Thrones, determined that every commuter in the most populous city in the U.S. know that winter is coming one last time.

It’s all part of the network’s #ForTheThrone marketing push, which reminds people of key turning points in the main characters’ journeys ahead of their resolutions in the final six episodes of the series, which kick off in April. Also on the docket: Game of Thrones-themed MetroCards, each stamped with an iconic moment from the show:

I don’t know why you’d want to be reminded of Cersei Lannister’s harrowing Walk of Shame during your morning commute, but it’s good to have options. And is it a coincidence that three out of the four scenes chosen involve nudity?

I’m overthinking things.

According to New York Public Radio, the MTA is printing 250,000 of these cards, available at Grand Central Station while supplies last. That’s the same number they printed in honor of David Bowie in April of this year, and for Paul McCartney in September. However, it sounds like the cards are dispensed in no particular order, so if you want a specific one, you may just have to keep trying until you get lucky.
