HBO tells the stories of Houses Stark, Lannister, Baratheon and more

Yesterday, HBO released a bunch of videos from behind the scenes of the final season of Game of Thrones, each featuring a cast member narrating the story of their character up to this point. And new videos are still coming in, so go check them out!

A correction: while HBO is definitely making those videos, I don’t know if it’s actually releasing them. They’re showing up on a YouTube channel called harlequinn 00. It’s possible that they won’t be up for long, which is all the more reason to watch them now!

And this morning, harlequinn 00. started uploading a new variety of video: quick recaps of what’s happened to the Great Houses of Westeros over the course of the series, both those still kicking and those that have been stamped out of existence. Let’s start with the story of the family that started it all, House Stark:

I like how the video draws comparisons between Ned Stark promising to tell Jon Snow about his mother and Lyanna Stark making Ned promise to protect Jon, and between Walder Frey’s murder of Catelyn Stark with Arya Stark’s murder of Walder Frey.

“When the snows fall and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survive.” Chills. Chills, I tells you.

Next up: the story of House Lannister, and all the dysfunction that implies:

I like how it starts with Cersei’s visit to Maggy the Frog. Does that mean her prophecy will play a big role in the final six episodes?

Let’s round out the “big three” houses with the story of House Targaryen:

Obviously, this is mostly the Daenerys Targaryen show, but we can some face time with Aerys and Viserys, too. And of course, Jon Snow — or should I say Aegon Targaryen — is included, too.

Next, we head to the rocky shores of the Iron Islands for the story of House Greyjoy:

Pray for Yara.

Now we come to the fallen houses, starting with House Baratheon:

To me, Shireen’s death will probably always be the most disturbing scene in the series.

Next up is House Martell, which comes off better in summary:

Technically, House Martell ended with the deaths of Prince Doran Martell and his son Trystane, although this video keeps going with the stories of Ellaria Sand and the Sand Snakes. But Game of Thrones’ Dorne problem is well-established, so let’s just move on.

Finally, let’s look at the history of House Tyrell:

R.I.P. Margaery and Olenna. You were the best of them.

Any houses we’re missing? I wouldn’t mind a video on House Mormont, myself.
