Disney is launching a new streaming service, Disney+, late next year, and to make sure people subscribe, it’s bringing out the big guns: a live-action Star Wars show called The Mandalorian, now officially starring Game of Thrones cast member Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) in the lead role.

So says a press release on StarWars.com. And if that were the only news about The Mandalorian to come out today, we might not have bothered writing it up. Sure, it’s good to have confirmation, but we pretty much already knew Pascal was headlining this thing. What we didn’t know is that the supporting cast will include Giancarlo Esposito, best known as the ruthless drug lord Gus Fring on Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul

…Carl Weathers, known for sharing a homoerotic handshake with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Predator

…and freaking Werner Herzog, the experimental German filmmaker best known for making Grizzly Man and playing a fingerless villain in Jack Reacher:

Other cast cast members include Deadpool villain Gina Caruso, Supernatural star Emily Swallow, and multiple Academy Award nominee Nick Nolte. Showrunner Jon Favreau is assembling one hell of a motley crew, and while part of me is preemptively resentful of Disney for making me subscribe to yet another streaming service, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t curious to see how this all shakes out.
