Are you into shows about high school, about teenagers going through the trials and tribulations? And what if they have superpowers? For everyone who raised their hands, we have good news: Variety reports that Netflix has ordered an adaptation of Charles Forsman’s graphic novel I Am Not Okay With This, about a high school freshman dealing with family, friends and telekinesis.

“Sydney seems like a normal, rudderless 15-year-old freshman,” reads the synopsis. “She hangs out underneath the bleachers, listens to music in her friend’s car, and gets into arguments with her annoying little brother — but she also has a few secrets she’s only shared in her diary. Like how she’s in love with her best friend Dina, the bizarre death of her war veteran father, and those painful telekinetic powers that keep popping up at the most inopportune times.”

Variety reports that production company 21 Laps will make the eight-episode series, with Jonathan Entwistle (The End of the F***ing World) directing. Christy Hall is writing the series, with Stranger Things director and producer Shawn Levy on board as an executive producer.

It looks like Netflix is doubling down on the Young Adult crowd, what with shows like The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina (which has a Christmas special debuting on December 14) making waves. And teen romcoms The Kissing Booth and To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before were among the service’s most-rewatched original movies of 2018.
