Titans, a superhero show available on the DC Universe streaming service, got off to a bit of a bumpy start. When the first pictures of the cast members in their costumes appeared online, the internet did what it does best: criticize. The costumes, the casting choices (especially Anna Diop as Starfire), the apparently low production values…all of it was fodder for fans who thought the show was doomed to fail. The tone was a problem, too; based on trailers, it looked like Titans was going to be dark and gritty, unlike, say, the Teen Titans on the Cartoon Network animated series.
