University students write, cast and perform their own version of Game of Thrones season 8

Can you not wait to watch the final season of Game of Thrones? You are not alone. Earlier this year, students at Boston University broke and wrote their own versions of the final six scripts for a class put together by a veteran TV writer/producer. Then they cast actors from the Boston area, secured a space, grabbed some props, and filmed a dramatic reading of their work. HBO even sent them an Iron Throne for their trouble.

And now you can watch the fruits of their labors on YouTube! It’s the closest you’ll get to experiencing the ending to Game of Thrones without, y’know, actually doing that. The full season read-through takes about six hours, one hour per episode. If you have time as winter break winds down, sit back, relax, and let these Boston-area thespians take you away to Westeros:

As far as final tests go, this beats the hell out of a written exam. I assume everybody passed.

If you have a mind to, you can read the first of the six scripts the students wrote here, and/or sign up to read the rest here. It’ll be fun to see what — if anything — the students guessed right when the actual season 8 drops in April.
