The Hound and the Mountain will throw down, probably

Because we mentioned the Mountain, let’s hit this topic real quick. For years, Game of Thrones fans have been looking forward to Cleganebowl, a long-anticipated death match between Sandor and Gregor Clegane, the Hound and the Mountain. The show certainly seemed to set it up in the season 7 finale, when the Hound confronted his much-changed brother at the Dragonpit:

"Remember me? Yeah, you do. You’re even fucking uglier than I am now. What did they do to you? Doesn’t matter. It’s not how it ends for you, brother. You know who’s coming for you. You’ve always known."

Them’s fighting words, literally.

Anyway, we’ve gotten some juicy hints that this long-awaited confrontation will finally go down in season 8, mostly courtesy of Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson, who plays the Mountain. To start, he told a fan that his favorite scene to film happens in season 8:

"[NO SPOILERS] Hafthor Bjornsson (The Mountain) says his favorite scene to film in all of GoT is in season 8! from gameofthrones"

Any scene to beat the Mountain’s brutal defeat of Oberyn Martell back in season 4 will surely stop the show.

In addition, Björnsson told Fox News that season 8 was “the hardest season that I have done ever for Game of Thrones. It was the most difficult. Like, physically and mentally for me.”

For a few seasons now, the Mountain has mostly stood by Cersei’s side, intimidating but inactive (with at least one very entertaining exception). It sounds like that’s going to change in the final six episodes. Get hype.
