It’s been quite the busy week for Game of Thrones fans. On Sunday, HBO dropped new season 8 footage at the Golden Globes. On Tuesday, we got a cast and crew list for the prequel series, and on Friday, the official HBO Twitter account announced that it would be announcing the premiere date for season 8 this Sunday, during the season 3 premiere of True Detective.

Actually, the HBO Twitter account has been getting up to a lot of shenanigans lately. On Thursday, it celebrated the 20th anniversary of The Sopranos premiere by asking people to tweet their names, whereupon HBO would give them a mafia nickname. and the account would reply with a mafia nickname. The official Game of Thrones stepped up to the plate, and HBO threw it a curveball:

Well played.

George R.R. Martin (or his social media people) also got in on the fun:

Checks out.

Moving on, one of the largest grocery store chains in Norway — Kolnial — hired Game of Thrones star Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane) to help market its home delivery service. The results are hilarious:

I laughed way more than I should have at the old lady feeding offering Björnsson some of the bread she was feeding the ducks.

Finally, Funny or Die has imagined what The Lord of the Rings would look like if it was a sitcom. Enjoy:

I usually despise laugh tracks, but in this case, I’m willing to make an exception. Weed smoking Gandalf, Rudy Giuliani as an orc, Mathew Perry as Treebeard, and David Schwimmer as Smaug…I’m here for Northern Expo-Shire.
