Take a Game of Thrones-inspired tour of the Met, and other stuff

The final season of Game of Thrones is coming, and the show is starting to cross over into the real world. For example, starting on February 1, Chicagoans can visit Game of Thrones pop-up bar at Replay Lincoln Park, at 2833 N. Sheffield. Bar-goers can snap pictures of themselves in iconic Game of Thrones, including the Red Keep throne room, the Hall of Faces and a snowy landscape beset by White Walkers. There will be Game of Thrones trivia every Thursday, and a $20 VIP ticket nets you express entry to the bar, a pin or print, and a cup of mead in a souvenir goblet.

Meanwhile, in another major American city, fans will be able to take a Game of Thrones-inspired tour of the The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, courtesy of tour group Fable and Lark. “Crown and Prophet: An Epic Fantasy Adventure” will take visitors through the Met on a scavenger hunt to find works that share thematic resonance with Game of Thrones, The Lord of the Rings and other fantasy sagas. Given how heavily A Song of Ice and Fire was inspired by the War of the Roses and other conflicts, expect to see a lot of artwork from medieval England on the Game of Thrones portion of the tour.
