If you were a ’90s kid, then you most likely know what Unsolved Mysteries is. And for those you who don’t, boy, are you missing out. Spanning across 14 seasons and multiple networks, this cold case documentary series was all the hype back in the ’90s. We can never quite forget the iconic theme music that would play throughout the episode, or host Robert Stack’s haunting yet inviting voice.

Earlier this week, Netflix announced that it will be rebooting the show, with Stranger Things’ executive producer Shawn Levy behind the camera. Each of the new season’s 12 episodes will dive into a different mystery. According to Deadline, the show “will profile real-life mysteries and unsolved crimes, lost love, cases involving missing persons and unexplained paranormal events.”

What always stood out about Unsolved Mysteries that it didn’t limit itself to believable crimes. Yes, there were murders and robberies, but also aliens, sea monsters, and more. We’re hoping to see more of that in the reboot! True crime shows are pretty popular these days, with Netflix finding a lot of success with stuff like Making a Murderer, so hopefully it’ll find its niche.

Original series creator John Cosgrove is on board for the Netflix reboot, with Terry Dunn Meurer and Robert Wise serving as showrunners. But now our question is, who will be the host? To be honest, Robert Stack — who died in 2002 — is irreplaceable, and will forever remain the face of Unsolved Mysteries. Whoever carries on his job will hopefully convey the same creepy, haunting, and foreboding tone that he did when walking viewers through cases. Because there was nothing like being scared out of your mind during an episode of Unsolved Mysteries as Stack eerily revealed details of each incident.
