Amazon’s Wheel of Time series gets two new writers
By Ariba Bhuvad
If you’re into fantasy novels, then you’ve most likely have heard of Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time series. And if you haven’t, Amazon will be turning it into a TV show, so you’re good either way. Jordan’s 14-volume series became a worldwide hit that still has a powerful fan following. Not a ton is known about Amazon’s show, but the creative team behind it is coming together with the addition of two new writers.
Rafe Judkins, showrunner and lead writer on the series, made the announcement on Twitter. So who are the new writers? Mike P. Clarkson and Paul T. Clarkson, aka the Clarkson Twins.
Most recently, these two worked on another big fantasy series: the BBC’s adaptation of Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials, so this is a lateral move. As regards production start date, casting, and air date, Amazon hasn’t announced anything. But not that’s staffing up, we’ll surely start to see more soon.

To give you all a little history on The Wheel of Time, author Robert Jordan passed away in 2007 while he was working on the 12th book. Brandon Sanderson, a fellow fantasy writer and a fan of the series, wrote the final two books based on the notes Jordan left behind. The series draws from Asian and European mythology, with elements of Hinduism and Buddhism included. Even Leo Tolstoy’s epic doorstop of a novel War and Peace is an inspiration. The Wheel of Time is sprawling and finds influence everywhere.
