The Expanse was given a second chance after SyFy canceled it last year, thanks to Amazon Prime Video. With the fourth season set to premiere in 2019, fans new and old will soon be able to watch all the previous episodes on Amazon Prime Video, per Variety. U.S. residents can currently watch the first two seasons on that platform. The third season will be added in 200 countries on February 8.

The Expanse is a sci-fi thriller that takes place in a very distant future when humans live spread out across the solar system. Mars and Earth are on the verge of war. We follow a detective and captain caught in the middle, trying to untangle an interplanetary mystery. Full of intrigue, mystery and conspiracy, it’s a really solid show that at times gives off Game-of-Thrones-in-space vibes.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, who has a well-documented passion for space exploration, announced that Amazon was picking up The Expanse in May of 2018 during the National Space Society’s International Space Development Conference in L.A., adding a bit of synergy.

The Expanse is based on a series of novels by Ty Franck and Daniel Abraham, who write under the pen name James S.A. Corey. Franck used to be the personal assistant to George R.R. Martin, so the Game of Thrones connection runs deeper than it might appear at first glance.

Amazon hasn’t announced a premiere date for season 4 just yet, but we hope making the episodes available to more people is a sign that it’s ready to take the show to the next level.
