The Lost Boys, a horror-comedy classic familiar to all children of the ’80s, is making a comeback on The CW, according to Deadline. Earlier this week, the network ordered four pilots, including one for The Lost Boys, one for a Nancy Drew mystery, and spinoffs of Riverdale and Jane the Virgin. You’ll be surprised to learn that the TV adaptation of The Lost Boys has been in the works since the 2016-2017 season. However, at the time, the series (from iZombie’s Rob Thomas) didn’t get picked up. In the interim, Thomas began his work on the Veronica Mars reboot on Hulu (guy loves reboots). It took Scandal writer Heather Mitchell to come in, give her take, and get everyone excited. And here we are.

That’s about all we know at the moment, but Deadline does have a basic synopsis:

"Welcome to sunny seaside Santa Carla, home to a beautiful boardwalk, all the cotton candy you can eat… and a secret underworld of vampires. After the sudden death of their father, two brothers move to Santa Carla with their mother, who hopes to start anew in the town where she grew up. But the brothers find themselves drawn deeper and deeper into the seductive world of Santa Carla’s eternally beautiful and youthful undead."

Warner Brothers will be producing the series. They were also behind the original film in 1987, so welcome back. Fun fact: the title of the movie came from the Lost Boys characters in Peter Pan, who lived in Neverland and never grew up, just like vampires.

Let’s hope the CW does the series justice!
