Actor Dustin Ingram joins the cast of HBO’s Watchmen series

Deadline reports that actor Dustin Ingram — who once played a vampire named Ronnie on the seventh season of HBO’s True Blood, if you’re interested — has joined the cast of another HBO series: Watchmen, Damon Lindelof’s remix of Alan Moore’s classic graphic novel. Ingram is also known for recurring roles on CMT’s Sun Records, Freeform’s Good Trouble, and SyFy’s The Magicians.

As expected, HBO is keeping tight lipped on the details of Ingram’s role, but it will be recurring, so he’s play some kind of important part.

Ingram joins an already stellar cast that includes Jeremy Irons (rumored to be playing an older Adrian Veidt/Ozymandias), Regina King, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson (rumored to play a character named Looking Glass), Louis Gossett Jr., Adelaide Clemens and Jean Smart (confirmed as Agent Blake), among others.

Aside from a small social media marketing campaign, there hasn’t been much in the way of promotion for Watchmen, but during the Golden Globes, HBO did give viewers a quick glimpse:

What’s with the police officers wearing Rorschach-style masks, only they’re yellow? Naturally, we overanalyzed those three seconds of footage here.

Lindelof will serve as showrunner, while Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross from Nine Inch Nails will be providing the score. Shit, you guys, this show is going to be dark as f**k. If you want to know just how dark, a few sneaky fans have smuggled out some on-set photos, but beware spoilers.

HBO hasn’t announced a release date for Watchmen, but it’s expected to make its debut sometime this year, one of several things the network will offer to Game of Thrones fans despondent that their favorite show is over.
