Dragons and Things! A show about dragons… and… things…

But it wasn’t always about things. At one point, it was about stuff.

I think I’m making this worse.

Okay, let me start over and I’ll work my way from the beginning.

I’m James Rodehaver, I wrote and created a fantasy adventure comedy series called Walking In Circles (I promise this is relevant).

Walking In Circles lasted two seasons — you should watch it because it’s fun, but more importantly, you’ll become familiar with the characters: Krag the barbarian, Markus the wizard, Quigley the squire, and Alex the rogue are all primary characters in Walking In Circles, and they are also the characters in Dragons and Stuff, and in Dragons and Things.

Now let’s tackle the whole Stuff and Things debacle. In 2017, Adam Rady (Markus) worked for a small studio; he pitched them his own idea to do an actual play live stream of Pathfinder. He wanted to use the characters from Walking In Circles and put them in this new story I would tell using tabletop role-playing as a vehicle to drive the action. The studio said yes, and so we started streaming. We grew a decent fanbase, were having a lot of fun, and produced some cool content telling a story with characters we all loved from our innocent days of yore. However, in 2018, the company decided not to continue producing Dragons and Stuff.

It was sad news for us, but not without a glimmer of hope. The characters and story from Dragons and Stuff were ours. We decided to strike out on our own and continue the show independently. However, we did NOT own the title of the show. When we decided to continue, we had to start from scratch. New social media accounts, new graphics, and most obviously, new show title.

Without the support of the studio, we began a Patreon campaign to raise funds for the show which you can check out here that includes all kinds of neat rewards and extras for contributors. The Patreon not only served as a way for us to continue our endeavors independently, but provided a great benchmark for whether or not we should continue. Luckily for us, our fans decided we should. They were eager for more adventures, and they came with us to Dragons and Things, providing an incredible outpouring of support that we are still grateful for and humbled by.

Now, after the long journey from Walking In Circles, to Dragons and Stuff, to Dragons and Things, we find ourselves here as a part of the FanSided family. It’s been a bumpy road at times, but it’s also been an insane amount of fun and we’re excited to bring you weekly live streams of chaotic, action-packed role playing madness every Friday night at 6pm PST.
