Let’s overanalyze the teaser for the final season of Vikings

facebooktwitterreddit

The Vikings season 5 finale pitted brothers against brother, as Bjorn and Hvitserk joined forces to take down their insane-in-the-membrane brother Ivar. And while the episode offered up a pretty spectacular battle, there was a lot less unresolved.

But don’t worry: Vikings will return for a sixth and final season, and some of it’s already been shot. As the credits rolled on season 5, History released a promo teasing to expect when the show returns this fall:

True, a lot of this is old footage, but there’s some new stuff in there, too. For one thing, it looks like Ivar is going to try and reclaim Kattegat in season 6, but with Bjorn, Ubbe, and Hvitserk united once again, he’ll need some powerful allies to do it. Ragnar’s sons are a formidable force when they band together.

Below, Bjorn looks to be adjusting to his new role as king of Kattegat.

Casting Alexander Ludwig as Bjorn was the best decision the show ever made. He looks just like Travis Fimmel (Ragnar) did when his character was that age.

The old king of Kattegat, Ivar, looks like he’s still on the run and trying his best to remain incognito:

Lagertha, meanwhile, is back in her armor and ready to kick some ass. This shot seems new, because you can see the scars she took in the battle against King Harald:

And while Ubbe looks comfortable on a throne of some sort…

…Hvitserk looks like he’s barely hanging on by a thread:

History has yet to give an exact premiere date for season 6, but it’s confirmed that it will have 20 episodes.
