Three things you might have missed in those new Game of Thrones pics

And finally, we come to the most interesting photo: Cersei Lannister standing alone in the Red Keep. It’s a striking shot, and unique because it’s the only full-body image in this batch.

Why is Cersei the only character we see head to toe? Well, it could be because HBO wants to highlight her new outfit — as always, Cersei’s costumes are a feast for the eyes. But it also could have to do with her pregnancy. In season 7, Cersei claimed she was pregnant with Jaime’s child. But she’s looking pretty slim in this picture. Because we don’t know how much time has passed between seasons, that may not mean much. There could also be a corset involved. Then again, according to my wife’s doctor, pregnancies show more readily on women who have had babies before, which Cersei has. It’s curious that she’s not showing at all, and by giving her a full-body shot, it’s almost like HBO wants us to notice.

There’s another possibility. Ahead of season 7, a complete outline of the plot leaked online, with most of the predictions turning out to be dead-on correct. But one was absent: according to that leak, Cersei was going to wake up in a bed of blood toward the end of the season, the implication being that she miscarried. That didn’t happen in the season 7 finale, but what if the writers only pushed it back to the season 8 premiere? That could explain the shot above, as well as her forlorn eyes in this image:

Now that Jaime has left her, Cersei losing her unborn child could unhinge the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms in a way that could be dangerous for everybody.
