Emilia Clarke breaks the internet, and other Game of Thrones news

Yesterday, Emilia Clarke announced a new partnership with Omaze: donate to charity, and you stand a chance to be flown out to New York and attend the season 8 red carpet premiere event with her, plus go to the afterparty. The more you donate, the better your chances; $10 gets you 100 entries, $20 gets you 200, and so on. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for fans, and so many donated that the Omaze website that it crashed. That’s how badly people want to party with the Mother of Dragons.

Clarke quickly responded:

By way of apology for the inconvenience, Omaze is offering 150 entries for any donation when you use the code BREAKER. Your odds just went up! And you get to donate to a good cause while you’re at it, so this is a win for everybody.

In other news, Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) spoke to The Courier about the end of the show. What, in opinion, is the worst thing about this part of her life coming to an end?

"I will miss people being like, ‘Are you Arya Stark?’ because she’s such a cool character and people really freak out about it and that’s so exciting. That will suck so bad. Because when I started you know like Breaking Bad was the big thing and if you saw Bryan Cranston now you’d be like ‘oh you used to do that show?’ and he went from being like ‘the man’ to, ‘yeah’. So that’s gonna suck. But I’m most excited to do new things."

Somehow we think it’ll be a while before people stop asking Williams about her time as Arya Stark, but we can revisit the question in a decade.

Finally, on a more somber note, YouTuber videoschmo recently posted a video recorded back in 2017 documenting how Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (Gregor “the Mountain” Clegane) worked through an episode of Bell’s palsy, which paralyzed half his face. I wasn’t aware he suffered from this condition, so this is tough to watch:

Happily, the Bell’s palsy didn’t stop Björnsson from winning the World’s Strongest Man competition, and it’s reportedly improved in the year since this video was recorded. We wish him continued good health.
