Amazon has announced the release date for its adaptation of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett’s 1990 book Good Omens, a story about a pair of best friends — an angel and a demon — who team up to prevent the apocalypse. You’ll get to stream all six episodes on May 31!

We learned this after Amazon dropped the opening credits for the show, which look delightfully trippy. Check it out:

Gaiman was on hand at the TCAs and revealed who will be playing the key role of Satan: Benedict Cumberbatch. First he’s Sherlock, then Smaug, then Doctor Strange, and now the prince of all darkness. Seems like a natural progression.

Cumberbatch joins an excellent cast that includes David Tennant as the demon Crowley, Michael Sheen as the angel Aziraphale, Jon Hamm as Archangel Gabriel, Frances McDormand as the voice of God, Nick Offerman as the antichrist’s dad, and many others.

Refreshingly, Good Omens isn’t slated to turn into a long-running series or anything. It’s six episodes and we’re out. It should fit in nicely with the rest of Amazon’s very impressive genre programming block.
