Altered Carbon news, finally! It’s been over a year since the first season of Netflix’s dystopian sci-fi thriller changed our lives forever, and now we can all collectively rejoice over the news of a season 2 renewal, from Deadline. However, things will be a bit different this time around. While Renée Elise Goldsberry and Chris Conner will return to play the roles of Quellcrist Falconer and Poe, respectively, Joel Kinnaman will not return to play lead character Kovacs. If you’ve watched the series, you know why this makes perfect sense, but still, he’ll be missed.

There are some exciting cast additions, however, including Luke Cage’s Simone Missick (Misty Knight) and Daredevil’s Dina Shihabi, along with Torben Liebrecht and James Saito. But who will play Kovacs? Anthony Mackie, aka Falcon/Sam Wilson from the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Altered Carbon made a name for itself last year by diving into knotty issues regarding identity, morality, mortality, and more. It was a thoughtful show that didn’t just rest on its visual effects and sci-fi splendor. I can’t wait to see where the story goes next.

Missick will play a character named Trepp, Shihabi will play someone named Dig 301, Liebrecht will play Colonel Ivan Carrera, and Saito is Tanaseda Hideki. Missick’s Trepp is a bounty hunter (so fitting), Dig 301 is an A.I. that assists human archaeologists, Colonel Carrera will be on the hunt for Kovacs, and Tanaseda is a Yakuza boss that shares some history with Kovacs.

There is currently no news on when season 2 will begin production or premiere, but you can bet we’ll be keeping an eye out for news!
