The Haunting of Hill House was a smash hit for Netflix back when it premiered in October, very quickly becoming a fan favorite among people who couldn’t get enough of the family drama and terrifying scares. But because it told a self-contained story, we wondered if we were ever going to see any more. Now it seems like we are, per Variety.

The creators/executive producer of Haunting of Hill House, Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy, have signed a multi-year deal with Netflix and will continue the series in an anthology format, with each new season featuring new stories, new characters and a new “haunting” mystery to uncover. The series as a whole is just called “The Haunting,” and the next installment will take place at Bly Manor:

Cindy Holland, the Vice President of Netflix’s original content, shared her excitement:

"Mike Flanagan and Trevor Macy are masterful at creating authentically frightening stories that leave audiences on the edge of their seats but unable to look away. We’re excited to continue our partnership with them on ‘The Haunting’ series and future projects to come."

The second season will be based on Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, one of the original ghost stories. Both Flanagan and Macy are thrilled to continue their partnership with Netflix, after having worked on Gerald’s Game, Hush and Before I Wake with them. Currently, they are working on the adaptation of the Stephen King story Doctor Sleep, the sequel to The Shining. So it’s safe to say they’ll be keeping busy for a while. Is it 2020 yet?
