Slowly but surely, we’ve been learning more about Netflix’s upcoming Witcher series, an adaptation of the fantasy novels by author Andrzej Sapkowski, which were already famously adapted as a series of video games from CD Projekt Red. A lot of that info has come from showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, who’s pretty open on Twitter. This new thing is different, a video of a rehearsal on the Canary Islands, where Netflix is currently shooting the show. This could technically count as a spoiler, so go no further if you want to remain fresh.

Okay, the video in question was posted on Reddit, and is blurred until you click for your protection. It shows actor Anya Chalotra in costume as Yennefer, the temperamental on-again off-again magic-wielding paramour of lead character Geralt of Rivia, who himself is played by Henry “Superman” Cavill. Roll the tape:
"First second of a rehearsal at Roque Nublo. Cut after 1 second to prevent spoilers :) from netflixwitcher"
So at some point Yennefer will wear a striated black all-over dress in a rocky area and fall over. The spoilers!
But seriously, Reddit doesn’t seem to think this scene is drawn from anything in the books in particular. Or if it is, it’s too vague to tell right now. Still, it’s cool to get behind-the-scenes footage from the show. The Witcher is scheduled to release sometime later this year and things look to be rolling along on schedule.
"Another Anya filming photo from yesterday from netflixwitcher"
If you’re not familiar with The Witcher but have somehow made it to the end of this article anyway, let me reward you with Netflix’s official synopsis: “The Witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts.” Ooooh.
