It sounds like the most iconic scenes for these Game of Thrones characters are still yet to come

Game of Thrones is going to be amazing; that’s already certain. But will it live up to all the remarkable scenes that have come before? From Cersei’s walk of shame to Hodor’s noble death to Oberyn Martell’s close encounter with Gregor Clegane’s enormous hands, a lot of incredible characters have had a lot of incredible moments over the past 67 episodes. But some haven’t hit their peaks quite yet.

According to RadioTimes.com, as each cast member shot their last scene, the production gave them a gift: a framed storyboard that illustrated their character’s most significant moment over the course of the series. Isaac Hempstead-Wright (Bran Stark) got the moment where he was pushed out the window. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau’s (Jaime Lannister) got the moment where his hand was severed, and Liam Cunningham’s (Ser Davos) storyboard was of the explosion that destroyed his ship and killed his son. (Geez, these are some heavy moments to put on your mantle.) Each of these scenes changed the fate of these characters forever. We get why showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss chose these moments for these actors.

Intriguingly, some of the actors received storyboards of scenes that won’t happen until season 8, implying that those character’s biggest moments have yet to come:

  • “I just got a scene, one where I…it’s one of the scenes of this year,” said Rory McCann (the Hound). “It’s just a small scene I can’t discuss yet.”
  • “Mine was of my last scene,” said Richard Dormer (Beric Dondarrion). “Yeah, I can’t say anything.”
  • “I can’t tell you!” said Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth). “But not because I don’t want to – I just can’t.”

Our minds are reeling trying to figure out what this means for their characters. Are they getting storyboards of their death scenes, or of their finest living moments yet to come? We have no idea; all we can do is hope that the next month flies by as quickly as possible.

Another thought: could one of the scenes involve one of these characters sitting the Iron Throne? Speaking with CNA Lifestyle, some of the cast members talked about who they think will take the throne in the end. Maybe this will give us some clues…

Liam Cunningham says it should be Ser Davos (ha!). Why? “Because I’m a selfish actor. Essentially, I’m a selfish human being.” Jokes aside, he thinks it could one hell of a red herring and makes sense philosophically, although he’s uncertain Davos could kill for the throne.

And if you thought Cunningham had a funny response, then Gwendoline Christie’s will have you rolling:

"I am currently favoring one of the Direwolves to sit on the Iron Throne because I think it’s not gone well with humans, so it could be better with animals."

While Cunningham and Christie had funny suggestions, Carice Van Houten (Melisandre) said she’d like to see Samwell Tarly on the throne. It’s rather unlikely, but in an ideal world, that is who she would have liked to see. Honestly, the Seven Kingdoms might be better off with someone like him. Thoughts?
