Planning for HBO’s untitled Game of Thrones prequel rolls on! While the title is still a mystery, the cast is coming together quite nicely. According to Entertainment Weekly, the highly-anticipated series has just added five new series regulars. But who are they and who will they be playing? Let’s take a look!

  • Marquis Rodriquez (Luke Cage)
  • John Simm (Doctor Who)
  • Richard McCabe (Collateral)
  • John Heffernan (The Crown)
  • Dixie Egerickx (Patrick Melrose)

They will be joining an impressive cast that includes the likes of Naomi Watts and Miranda Richardson, among many others. At this rate, the prequel cast will rival that of Game of Thrones.

Since we know HBO likes to keep things on the DL, we don’t know who any of these folks will be playing, but rest assured, it will be epic AF. Just take a peek at the official HBO description below if you don’t believe us!

"Taking place thousands of years before the events of Game of Thrones, the series chronicles the world’s descent from the Golden Age of Heroes into its darkest hour. And only one thing is for sure: from the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend… it’s not the story we think we know."

Who else has goosebumps?

According to Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin, this new series will take place approximately 5,000 years before the story we know now. That puts us in the Age of Heroes, in a time before the Wall was raised and long before anyone was fighting over the Iron Throne. According Martin, this is what we can look forward to:

"Westeros is a very different place. There’s no King’s Landing. There’s no Iron Throne. There are no Targaryens — Valyria has hardly begun to rise yet with its dragons and the great empire that it built. We’re dealing with a different and older world and hopefully, that will be part of the fun of the series."

Production on the pilot is set to start in the early days of summer, which means we can probably anticipate a 2020 release date, assuming HBO picks the show up to series.
