At one point in the not too distant past, Jordan Peele was best known as one half of Key and Peele, the hilarious sketch show on Comedy Central. And you know what? That stuff holds up:
Then, seemingly overnight, he remade himself over into a master of modern horror, starting with the smash hit Get Out in 2017 and following up earlier this month with Us, which showed that Get Out wasn’t a fluke. How did this happen? I have no idea, but Peele is running with it as the host of a reboot of The Twilight Zone on CBS All Access. Watch the trailer:
I know I said Peele has switched gears from comedy to horror, but there sure were a lot of comedians in that trailer.

Anyway, if you’re new to The Twilight Zone, it’s a classic science fiction series that ran in the ’50s and ’60s. Each episode is distinct, and tells a different weird, spooky tale, many of them playing on social, political, and technological anxieties of the day. It was Black Mirror before Black Mirror was a thing. Peele seems as qualified as anyone out there to bring the show into the 21st century.

The Twilight Zone will premiere on CBS All Access on April 1, April Fool’s Day, meaning that it might not premiere at all. Maybe this is all a prolonged gag. But probably not.
