Star Trek: Discovery is back for a second season on CBS All Access. We continue the story of the U.S.S. Discovery, a ship with the ability to travel across the galaxy in the blink of an eye using an experimental spore drive.
Season 1 focused on a brutal war between the Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets, ending with an armistice. Before season’s end, the captain of the Discovery was revealed to be from an alternate universe ruled by an evil Empress who had designs on ruling other dimensions until the Discovery’s crew stopped her.
Just about every cast member from season 1 returns for season 2. Here’s the full cast list, old-timers and newcomers alike:
- Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham, Spock’s half-sister
- James Frain as Sarek
- Doug Jones as Saru
- Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets
- Mary Wiseman as Sylvia Tilly

- Shazad Latif as Voq / Ash Tyler

Season 2 has 14 episodes, and will focus on Captain Pike taking command of the Discovery as he and his crew search the galaxy for strange red glowing markers that have appeared out of nowhere. When seen up close, the red glowing orbs take on the form of a red angel. We’ll be reviewing every one of them week by week right here at WiC! Let’s get to it:
