Game of Thrones season 8 premiere event—Red carpet roundup
By Dan Selcke
Last night, the Game of Thrones cast and crew members hit the red carpet in New York City to watch the first episode of season 8. It’s the last Game of Thrones season premiere ever, and the cast and crew were dressed for the occasion. Let’s check out their outfits!
Let’s start with the creator himself, George R.R. Martin, stepping out in a simple three-piece suit:
Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are out here, too, with wives Amanda Peet and Andrea Troyer:
Sean Bean (Ned Stark) also kept it classy:
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister) is shaking things up a little more with his flower-patterned suit:
And now for something completely different, it’s Kristian Nairn (Hodor) looking like he walked off the cover art for Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band:
Sophie Turner was in attendance, rocking her natural blonde:
Maisie Willaims (Arya Stark) stomped the runway, too, in her natural, uh…well, her hair:
Stark sisters unite!
Joe Dempsie (Gendry) looking right in tan:
Kristofer Hivju (Tormund Giantsbane) and his wife Gry Molvær Hivju represent for the redheads:
Rose Leslie (Ygritte), who plays a redhead on TV, was also there with husband Kit Harington, who I think also appeared on Game of Thrones once or twice:
Aidan Gillen (Littlefinger) looking suave in black, with wife Olivia O’Flanagan:
These glamour shots on the Game of Thrones Twitter account are where it’s at. Make yourself known, Alfie Allen (Theon Greyjoy):
Give us a piercing glare, Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister):
And here he is with wife Erica Schmidt.
So we’ve seen Tyrion and Jaime. If you’re wondering where Lena Headey (Cersei) is at, apparently she’s under the weather, but she’s sending her castmates warm wishes:
Gemma Whelan (Yara Greyjoy) also sent her regrets:
Okay, Rory McCann (the Hound), melt the camera with your eyes:
And now do a funny one:
This seems like as good a time as any to show you Gwendoline Christie (Brienne of Tarth), who burned the runway so thoroughly I’m surprised the fire department didn’t stop the premiere:
Whoa.
WHOA!
WHOOOOOOOOA!

Okay, we need to come down from that with something a little more ordinary. Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), what do you got?
Okay, heart rate going down. Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont), how about you?
God bless tan. Okay, let’s turn up the heat just a little with Jerome Flynn (Bronn), who’s bringing the funky footwear:
And then down another notch with Jack Gleeson, who hopefully is past the point in his career where people hate him just because they associate him with Joffrey Baratheon:
Now this is funny:
"[NO SPOILERS] Joffrey is Mr steal your girl from gameofthrones"
Daniel Portman (Podrick Payne) looking dapper in blue:
And now, may we present Emilia Clarke, Mother of Dragons, Breaker of Chains and wearer of poofy green gowns:
She also got a good glamour shot:
Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei), coming out bold in orange:
Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), meanwhile, is looking smart in grey and blue:
Hannah Murray (Gilly) goes with a bold yellow:
And John Bradley (Sam Tarly) plays it pretty safe in a well-cut suit:
Let’s take a moment to remember the fallen. There’s Sibel Kekilli (Shae)…
…Mark Addy (King Robert Baratheon)…
…Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister)…
…and Natalie Dormer (Margaery Tyrell):
Of course, being dead won’t keep Margaery from making new friends:
If any of these cast members want their characters revived, they can always ask Carice van Houten (Melisandre), looking regal in white:
Pilou Asbæk (Euron Greyjoy) is grinning widely and I’m sure he’s having a good time but I can’t see that and not fear he’s about to abscond with someone’s ship:

Gah! Conleth Hill (Varys) has hair!
And finally, Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell) and Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson (the Mountain) settle an old score:
Don’t put Indira Varma (Ellaria Sand) through this again, Pascal:
Take a bow, everyone:
Game of Thrones season 8 premieres on April 14.
