This week, we dive into the first Theon chapter from A Clash of Kings, which makes it the first Theon chapter from A Song of Ice and Fire. Watch below!

The takeaway from this chapter is that Theon is an ass. Some of the discussion points:

• So on the surface, Theon is a complete and utter jerk. He’s arrogant, preening, sexist, self-absorbed, borderline delusional…the list goes on.
• But we know there’s more going on. Who’s responsible for Theon being the way he is? His father? Which one? How much of Theon’s braggadocio is an act? How much of it is brought on by his uniquely bifurcated life, which he’s spent in two different while not really belonging to either?
• The Iron Islands have a fascinating culture. Somehow it makes us think of post-World War I Germany? Just go with it.
