Game of Thrones Episode 801: [SPOILER] gets his reward from Cersei

Warning: We’re watching episode 1 of season 8 of Game of Thrones, and we’re diving into the series premiere.

“You want a queen, earn her,” Cersei Lannister tells Euron Greyjoy. (In case you can’t tell or missed that little warning: this is a spoiler-filled post.)

However, she’s able to give in when necessary, even as the expression on her face as she beckons him in says a lot about how much she doesn’t want this to happen. She tries to defer, and she can’t, not if she wants to keep an ally who’s … not particularly in his right mind.

It only gets worse when we see the aftermath. After all, Euron is bold enough to ask openly about Jaime’s performance. “You might be the most arrogant man I’ve ever met,” she says. “I like that.” But when he leaves the room, her expression fades to sadness.

Is it because she’s supposedly already pregnant, despite him saying that he’s “going to put a prince in your belly”? Maybe so. Is it just the sense that she’s already lost control over him in some way, shape, or form?

That seems more likely to us, because Cersei happens to like control as much as Tyrion does, including when it comes to her body now after so long. To not have that (or her elephants) is a bit disconcerting, we think.

This seems like it’ll only get worse, too, for Cersei. Expect the episodes to keep cutting back to Cersei and Euron briefly, even as things keep going in the North.
