Avengers: Endgame has taken over the press these last couple of weeks, with fans eager to learn anything they can about the upcoming climax to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we’ve known it since Iron Man in 2008. We have a lot of questions that need answering, and for now, directors Russo Brothers are the only ones that have them. In an interview with SYFY Wire, the pair spoke about the difficulties of bringing a new character into an ensemble, the liberation that comes when bringing a 22-movie cycle to an end, and more:

Okay, so if you don’t have time to watch all 22 Marvel movies between now and Endgame, just watch Captain American: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. That should get you caught up, at least according to the directors.

At the end of Infinity War, we saw a lot of our favorite heroes crumble into dust, but the fate of others was left ambiguous. Case in point: we didn’t see what happened to Valkyrie (Westworld’s Tessa Thompson), but apparently she survived the Snappening. “She’s alive, though, because the Russo brothers have said that, she’s not dead,” Thompson assured the Boston Herald.

Naturally, Thompson couldn’t confirm whether Valkyrie shows up in Endgame, but she did talk just a tiny little bit about a possible upcoming Thor sequel:

"I heard that a pitch has happened for (another “Thor” film). I don’t know how real that intel is, but I hear that the pitch has happened. I think the idea is Taika (Waititi, who directed ‘Ragnarok’) would come back."

That’s something, I suppose.

Even if we don’t see Valkyrie in Endgame, she very much alive in fans’ imaginations. Recently, Brie Larson retweeted some fan art of Captain Marvel and Valkyrie together, and Thompson did not expect the reaction it got.

"That’s wild! It didn’t even occur to me, legitimately, that it was necessarily a romantic thing. I don’t even know what happens in the canon in terms of those characters or if they ever intersect, but I just love the idea of more women Marvel characters getting to intersect. I just think it’s so cool and it’s time and why not? [There are] so many compelling female characters inside of the MCU."

New ship, anyone? And Let’s not forget about Thor and Captain Marvel, either:

"I kind of ship them, but I would like to have a drink with them. I also have seen some other people shipping Thor and Captain Marvel which, when they see each other, that’s kind of steamy. (But) I don’t think I ship any two characters. I’m just for everybody."

We’re here for all of it, honestly. Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26.
