Well, just when we thought things might settle down for an episode, “The Last of the Starks” kicks us right in the teeth. As the saying goes however, there’s no rest for the weary. Next week doesn’t look any different. Here’s the preview for next week’s still untitled episode of Game of Thrones, an episode we hereby dub, “The Battle of King’s Landing.” Enjoy!
From the moment the trailer begins, the foreboding music puts a bad feeling in our stomach. After a look at the two queens of the Seven Kingdoms, Daenerys and Cersei, we get a quick shot of Jon, who’s arrived with the Northern forces. Aside from that, we don’t get much in terms of spoilers from the preview, other than of course, there’s about to be a huge throwdown. No one does throwdowns better than director Miguel Sapochnik, who’s directed everything from the Battle of Winterfell to the Battle of the Bastards, and he’s on deck for this week as well.
When the season started, it didn’t look like we’d have to choose between the lesser of two evil queens, but after pushing Daenerys to the brink, that might just be what Cersei has given us. Will Daenerys go full mad queen? Will the revelation of Jon’s parentage force Dany’s allies to betray her if she torches King’s Landing? We have so many questions! Two episodes to go!
