Euron’s battle attire

When it comes to battle, most characters on Game of Thrones cover themselves in heavy garments or armor. That isn’t the case with Euron Greyjoy, though. When the Ironborn ambush Daenerys’ fleet, Euron is in his usual ragged attire. He wears light material mixed with a bit of leather, and you can even see the top of his bare chest. If someone could get close enough, it would be incredibly easy to kill him—which is part of what makes his choice of clothing so interesting.

Euron’s outfit here stresses his arrogance, making it clear that he sees himself on the winning side of this battle. If you’re untouchable, there’s really no point in wearing protective gear into a fight, is there? We all know that Euron is overconfident, but hardly protecting your body when you’re about to be assaulted by dragons and another army seems over the top. Of course, we suppose he was right to be confident this time. There’s no question about who came out on top during “The Last of the Starks.”

Still, with any luck, this sort of cockiness will get Euron killed during the next two episodes. Even if his demise isn’t directly a result of his carelessness with his wardrobe, it’s likely to stem from the reckless attitude his attire represents.
