Game of Thrones could win big at the MTV Movie & TV Awards
By Ariba Bhuvad
Game of Thrones is getting a head start on awards season: it’s already up for four awards at this year’s MTV Movie & TV Awards. Are we surprised? Nah, not at all. Despite mixed reactions to season 8, there have been some wonderful moments and performances worthy of recognition.
Here are the awards it’s poised to snap up:
- Best Show
- Best Performance in a Show: Emilia Clarke
- Best Hero: Maisie Williams (Arya Stark)
- Best Fight: Arya Stark vs. The White Walkers
It’s clear who the favorite is this season, isn’t it? All praise should go to Maisie Williams, who’s been remarkable over these past five episodes. Sometimes it’s hard to believe just how young she is. We’re pulling fore her in both of those categories.
Being nominated in the Best Show category comes as absolutely no surprise! The amount of arduous work and long hours spent in making the final season feel as amazing as it does is very obvious. Just watch any of the behind-the-scenes videos and your mind will be blown.
Last but not least, our girl Emilia Clarke is up for Best Performance in a Show, against the likes of Elisabeth Moss (for The Handmaid’s Tale) and Gina Rodriguez (for Jane the Virgin). After watching the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones, I honestly am hard pressed to find anyone who can surpass Emilia Clarke’s talent. We have to remember that she is up on a wooden contraption inside of a green room when most of these epic battle scenes are taking place. And she still manages to make every moment believable and gripping. You go, Mad Queen!

Will Game of Thrones sweep in all their categories? I wouldn’t be surprised if they did, but tune in to MTV on June 17 at 6:00 p.m. MST to find out! Zachary Levi is hosting, another reason to watch.
